1st MEB and ESG 3 Amphibious Operations

12/15/2017: U.S. Navy Sailors and Marines with 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade and Expeditionary Strike Group 3, conduct amphibious operations off the coast of San Clemente Island during Exercise Dawn Blitz, Oct. 25, 2017.

Dawn Blitz participating units are 1st MEB and ESG 3, USS Essex (LHD 2), USS Rushmore (LSD 47) and the USS Anchorage (LPD 23).

Exercise DB17 provides a realistic land and maritime training environment for the Navy and Marine Corps team to employ combat capabilities such as fixed and rotary-wing operations, combined-arms strikes, well deck operations, ship-to-shore amphibious surface movements, expeditionary advanced base operations and the high mobility artillery rocket system (HIMARS).
