The editorial team

 

 

• Murielle Delaporte, founder: md@sldinfo.com
  A defense analyst based in Paris, France, and Arlington, Virginia (USA),  she has worked in the French government and various think tanks both in France and the United States. In the past twelve years, she has been writing for the French defense international newsletter TTU, as well as the British publication Military Logistics International.  She received her training at Sciences Po and Sorbonne in Paris and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C..  She has written several articles and books on defense issues in both English and French.

• Robbin F. Laird, co-founder and senior analyst: rfl@sldinfo.com
  A long-time analyst of global defense issues, he has worked in the U.S. government and several think tanks, including the Center for Naval Analysis and the Institute for Defense Analysis. He is a Columbia University alumni, where he taught and worked for several years at the Research Institute of International Change, a think tank founded by Dr. Brzezinski.  He is a frequent op-ed contributor to the defense press, and has written several books on international security issues.

• Ed Timperlake, senior analyst
  Former USMC Commanding Officer, VMFA-321 “Hell’s Angels” was until recently Director, Technology Assessment, International Technology Security at the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

• Franck Znaty, primary research and editorial assistant: fz@sldinfo.com
  A graduate from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, where he obtained his BA in Economics, Franck has worked for many years with the editorial team. He is currently finishing his M.A. in Middle Eastern History and is writing his thesis on Turkey’s foreign policy.

• Kirsten Ashbaugh, editorial assistant: ka@sldinfo.com
  Kirsten is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in International Studies at American University in Washington, D.C. Her interests include U.S. foreign policy and international politics as well as French studies. She is in charge in particular of our Log On The Web section.

• Caroline Teames, editorial assistant: ct@sldinfo.com
  Caroline is a registered nurse (RN): she obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the Shenandoah University in 2005 and follows operational medecine issues for SLD;  in addition, she is in charge of the photobriefs’ section.

• Harry Syringas, research assistant: hs@sldinfo.com
  Holder of a BA in French Language and Litterature from Athens University and of MA in European Politics from Paris 3 University, Harry has completed a traineeship at the EuropeanParliament in Brussels and in the Assembly of the WEU. He is currently enrolled at Paris 10 -Nanterre University, where he is working on his PhD thesis working on a EU security topic. He is following in particular for SLDinfo Mediterranean security issues.

• Caroline Mükusch, German correspondant: cm@sldinfo.com
  Caroline is a doctoral candidate at the University of Cologne, examining the challenge of shaping a ”Comprehensive Energy Security Concept” for Germany and Europe.  She is also working for the IABG mbH in Munich, Germany, in the Division Safety and Security.  Her research and working focus is on critical infrastructure protection, energy security and geopolitics (Europe, Russia, Arctic Region, Middle East).
