Amphibious Ready Groups On Deployment

12/21/2010 – In the first two photos Tortuga, part of the permanently forward-deployed Essex Amphibious Ready Group, is underway in the western Pacific Ocean.

  • In the first photo, Landing Craft Air Cushion 57 assigned to Assault Craft Unit 5 returns to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga after an equipment unload.
  • In the second photo, Landing Craft Air Cushion 21 assigned to Assault Craft Unit 5 returns to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga after an equipment unload
  • In the third photo, the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor is moored pierside in Singapore for a scheduled port visit. Pearl Harbor is part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group, which is transiting the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility while en route to its homeport of San Diego
  • In the final photo, Petty Officer 3rd Class Jennifer Ann Redondo, ship’s serviceman, raises the Navy Jack during morning colors aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor. The Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd is moored pierside in the distance.
