01/02/2014: In this slideshow, the USS Bataan Amphibious Ready Group exercises its key elements in late October 2013.

  • In the first photo, Air department personnel run across the flight deck to remove chocks and chains from an MV-22 Osprey aboard the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5).Sailors from the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and Marines assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) are participating in ARG/MEU exercises.
  • In the second photo, an H-60 Seahawk takes off from the flight deck of the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5)
  • In the third photo, a landing craft air cushion attached to Amphibious Craft Unit Four begins its final approach into the well deck of the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) Oct. 31. Bataan can fit three LCACs into its well deck used for Marine unit embarkation and debarkation.
  • In the fourth photo, a landing craft air cushion (LCAC) attached to Amphibious Craft Unit Four begins its final approach into the well deck of the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) behind two other LCACs Oct. 31.
  • In the final photo, Operations Specialist 2nd Class Joe Huson, of Bedford, Va., performs a wash-down on a landing craft air cushion assigned to Amphibious Craft Unit Four after landing in the well deck of the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) Oct. 31.
