C-17 Lands for First Time at Bryant Army Airfield in Alaska

03/23/2016

03/24/2016: With the Arctic opening, there is a growing need to be able to support military operations in the area as needed.

This was a short field landing of less than 4,000 feet.

The event marked the first time a C-17 has taken off from the airfield since its construction in 1958, when the runway was built by the U.S. Army on then-separate Ft. Richardson to support Soldiers in remote areas of Alaska.

The interview is with Maj. Jason Fuller, Chief Pilot, 517th Airlift Squadron.
