Airmen from the 249th Airlift Squadron of the Air National Guard work with airment from the Philippine Air Force’s 355th Aviation Engineer Wing to load heavy equipment onto a C-17A “Globemaster III” at Villamore Air Base.

The 355th is traveling to Tacloban to help with reconstruction efforts.

The Philippine government is closely coordinating ongoing efforts including search and rescue, supply drops and personnel airlifts, with military and civilian organizations.

The C-17s and C-130s certainly played a key role, but core elements for rapid recovery, such as the Crisis Response Group were crucial as well.
