Coast Guard’s Response to Fargo Flooding

In this slide show, USCG activities in support of residents dealing with flood conditions are highlighted.  The activities are generated from the Great Lakes region, a region discussed this week by Admiral Neffenger.

  • Petty Officer 3rd Class Roderick Hathawy, a boatswains mate from Coast Guard Station Marblehead, Ohio, and Jason Gross, of Valley Water Rescue, prepare to launch a 20-foot airboat, before patrolling in the Harwood area. Airboats are used in the Great Lakes region to conduct ice rescues and are capable of operating over water, ice and short distances on land.
  • In the second photo,  Coast Guard members from Coast Guard Station Alexandria Bay, N.Y., get out of their air boat while conducting welfare checks on residents of the area. Coast Guard airboat teams are in the Fargo area to assist state and local authorities during spring floods in the area.
  • The final photo shows crew members from Coast Guard Station Marblehead, Ohio, patrol in a 20-foot airboat in the Harwood area.
