Soldiers from 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 6th Battalion, D Company, stationed at Kandahar Air Field, conduct helicopter maintenance and get the helicopters back in the air and into the fight. Maintenance is a vital part of ensuring the reliability and safe operation of the helicopters in Afghanistan. Featured in the video are Spc. Michael Wood, an aircraft power plant repairer from Newnan, Ga. and Spc. Bobby Brittian, an aircraft structural repairer from Minden, La. They discussed the role of “dart teams” (Downed Aircraft Recovery Teams) whereby the maintainers go to a downed aircraft and assess damage and try to do repair in place.
