08/24/2011 For Captain Wittel, an experienced F-18 pilot, the capabilities of several assets deployed off of the carrier are embodied in a single plane, the F-35.  You can go from a fleet to a cockpit to shape electronic warfare and related mission sets.

Recently, Ed Timperlake developed the concept of the Z axis to develop understanding of the fleet to cockpit transition so essential to the next generation of air combat capabilities and con-ops.

Captain Wittel of the Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 224, stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, SC was participating in an exercise during the week of August 21, 2011.  The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing is conducting an exercise to work on close air support and surge operations.
