The Unmanned-Manned Air Systems Dynamic: A USMC F-18 Pilot Reflects on His Combat Experience

08/24/2011 In the world of the cubical commandos, unmanned systems are the future of air systems.  Our view is that unmanned (which are not unmanned, simply they do not have a pilot INSIDE the vehicle) systems are part of the future of airpower, not the future of airpower all by themselves.

In this video an experienced USMC F-18 pilot comments on his Afghan mission and the various roles of the manned and unmanned elements in operations.

Captain Wittel of the Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 224, stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, SC was participating in an exercise during the week of August 21, 2011.  The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing is conducting an exercise to work on close air support and surge operations.
