The USS Peleliu In Action

09/29/2010 – The amphibs and frigates are among the busiest of USN ships in support of US global operations. The flexibility of the ships are an important reason why they are so important to day-to-day operations.

In these pictures, the USS Pereliu is seen providing helicopters needed for ashore relief support. Marines embark a Marine Corps CH-46 Sea Knight assigned to Helicopter Marine Medium Squadron “White Knights” (HMM-165) (REIN) aboard amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5). The Marines and helicopter will join the eleven other helicopters from Peleliu already on station in Northern Pakistan. The Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group is supporting the Pakistani government and military with helicopter heavy lift capabilities in flooded regions of Pakistan.
